And The Band Plays On… Pt 2!

Well, we made it home safe and sound and I thank God fo his traveling mercies. Even though the trip was for a sad occasion we all were happy to see our family that live there in Maringouin, Louisiana! Our family is a large and loving one. Years prior we were so very close. Most of us even grew up as brothers and sisters. The love is still there… we all are grown now and have families to provide for. This trip made me realize that I am now the oldest nephew here in NYC. I promised myself to visit every single year from now on! As long as there’s breath in my body I will keep my word on this one! Another thing I realized is that since my father passed when I was eight years old we have basically lost his side of my family. Well I intend to remedy that situation also by reconnecting with my kin on my late father’s side of the family. Be that as it may, my Aunt’s funeral was “standing room only!” She lived in this town all her life and touched so many people with her smile and her heart. (and also her sweet potato pies)  I’m pretty sure that everyone in town attended for she was well loved! To have a family unit of nine children (6 girls and 3 boys) and to be married and still together after 65 years is amazing for this day and age! I tip my hat to my Aunt an Uncle for proving to everyone that true love does exist in this world of today! Since I perceive the world differently I recognize the importance of family and keeping in touch now. Some of my cousins children have children now! Wow! That’s from lack of communication from us here in NYC! But that’s okay now for I will change this. So to all my family down there in Maringouin… see you next year! God willing! Peace and blessings!
