brave new life…

2020 has been so far a truly different type of year! Not just for me, but for the world! I am not going to get into the politics of this one though. But the basic facts of the matter are that life as we are used to is no longer the same! Or will it ever be the same way again? Especially for me… since I am so used to just jumping on my bike and going about my business. I mean, I was always used to masking up for my rides and wearing my bike gloves. But now, that’s mandatory for someone like me because I fit in 2 of the categories of those with a higher level of risk! 65 and over… yes! Pre-existing chronic lung disease… yes! But there’s somethings that I do have that’s in my favor! My faith in God and my activity level! It’s strange to me not to ride to Manhattan! My year round riding has been stunted. Living in Staten Island would leave me no choice but to ride 8 and a 1/2 miles to the ferry. But with the virus so prevalent here in NYC, I decided to ride mostly on the island here to avoid crowds of people that also take that route. There’s a downside for me in this plan though. Staten Island has too many damn hills for a fix! So I mostly ride in my immediate area. Not that many hills! Lol! New terms of speech are being coined! Who would think of using terminology such as”social distancing” a few months ago? And now everyone is saying things like “be safe” or “stay safe!” Call it whatever you want but life’s changing here and more than likely the scars of this pandemic will be around for a long time! Keep in faith and prayer people! Remember… God has the final say! Peace and blessings!
