my cancer diary (cont)

So now my son and I have a reprieve! This was a blessing because I really had much more pressing issues! My son and I are extremely close. He took my diagnosis hard! But he has supported me till the present day! For the first few weeks after my diagnosis, I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat, constantly listening to my lungs and my breathing… I was definitely bugging! I was so afraid I didn’t know what to do! This first summer diagnosed with cancer was stressful. And I still had to worry about moving too! This is when I first chose to go to MSK! This choice helped me on the path I now tread. I felt so much more confident after meeting with the staff that day. Because at the time I didn’t even know what chemo was! Wow! Once every three weeks I was infused with 3 different chemotherapy drugs. I was there at least 5 to 6 hours at a clip. And in the beginning… no side effects! Amen! But after my initial 3 to 4 treatments… wow! What a difference! I guess the poison had built up enough for the most serious side effects ever! I will continue with my story next week! Peace and blessings!
