I lost my dear cousin this week. His name is Lorne Cordell Dupree! We grew up as brothers! I wrote these next 2 poems to honor him!

Brothers in Spirit!
We grew together,
as brothers be,
From elementary school
to jobs agreed.
We were so close,
it was plain to see,
We loved our lives,
we were so free.
As time goes by,
our paths diverge,
We learn and grow,
new feelings emerge.
Now spread apart
in this wide expanse,
We never forget
the times we laughed.
In this day and age,
living is hard.
It hurts to wake up,
my physique is now scarred.
Yet in my heart,
you remain so near,
A bond unbroken,
through every tear.
Though time has passed,
and distance wide,
The love we shared
will never subside.
And as you rest,
in peaceful grace,
I hold our memories
in a sacred place.
No matter where
life takes us now,
I cherish the moments,
our sacred vow.
In spirit, brother,
we still stand tall.
Together forever,
through it all and all!

In Memory of Us!
We were so young,
so full of life.
We never felt any
pangs of strife.
We laughed, we cried,
we loved, we fought.
For future times,
we had no thought!
We experienced loss,
we cried many tears.
We still stayed close
throughout the years.
We woke each day
and saw the shining sun.
We were thankful to the Lord
for another gorgeous one.
Now you’ve gone
to a place beyond,
but still, I feel
our unbroken bond.
Though time and distance
had kept us apart,
you’ll always live
so deep in my heart.
The laughter, the tears,
the memories we made,
will stay with me always
They’re never to fade.
