i have something to say
which may seem odd
but the way i live
has become a facade<\/p>\n\n\n\n

it is eleven years now
i have been in a fight
for within my body
i battle a blight<\/p>\n\n\n\n

so i put on my mask
my helmet, my gloves
get on my bike
my language of love<\/p>\n\n\n\n

no one can see
what i carry inside
when i am on my bike
my soul just glides<\/p>\n\n\n\n

but truth be told\u2026
it is not just escape
it is the only place
i recognize my shape<\/p>\n\n\n\n

because off of that saddle
in the stillness\u2026 i know
there are places within me
i try not to go<\/p>\n\n\n\n

rooms filled with whispers
i cannot outrun
echoes that linger
when the riding is done<\/p>\n\n\n\n

i have stared at the ceiling
counting each breath
feeling the weight
of a phrase\u2026 \u201cclose to death\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and somewhere between
acceptance and fear
i learned how to live
with the end always near<\/p>\n\n\n\n

so i ride\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

not to forget
but to remember me whole
not the illness that lingers
but the strength in my soul<\/p>\n\n\n\n

each mile is a statement
each turn, a decree
that this \u201cwalking dead man\u201d
is still wildly\u2026 free<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the wind strips me bare
no pretending out there
no need for the fake
when the truth fills the air<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and if one day i falter
and cannot go on
let it be said\u2014
i was already gone\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

but not in the way
that they whispered that day
i was gone into living
in my own sacred way<\/p>\n\n\n\n

**and when the road ends
as all roads must do
don\u2019t search for my shadow\u2014
i\u2019ve left it with you<\/p>\n\n\n\n

in the rhythm of breath
in the turning of wheels
in the quiet between
what is spoken\u2026 and feels<\/p>\n\n\n\n

i was never the body
they feared would decay\u2014
i was every last mile
