Looking at the scope and magnitude of being diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer AND mantle cell lymphoma I realized this point. Cancer, albeit a known, so called\u00a0<em>death sentence<\/em> has a diametric effect on me. For me it has become, in all actuality, a<em> life sentence!<\/em> My view of the world has changed since my diagnosis. Of course that goes for\u00a0<em>anyone\u00a0<\/em>diagnosed with a so called\u00a0<em>terminal\u00a0<\/em>disease. It makes you recognize your own mortality. Personally, I&#8217;ve changed my life to the point where I no longer can tolerate\u00a0<em>bad\u00a0<\/em>days. I&#8217;ve learned to accept each day as it comes, each breath as it comes&#8230;\u00a0<em>life<\/em> as it comes. People like us learn quickly about the preciousness of life. We learn the futility of anger, pettiness, hatred etc. As I&#8217;ve stated previously, each and everyone will face infinity one day. The only difference is that cancer patients are balancing on a precipice&#8230; the\u00a0<em>precipice of infinity<\/em> so to speak. When accepting and recognizing your own mortality, you live life with purpose. I feel that that purpose should be peace!\u00a0<em>Mine<\/em> is! Remember this!\u00a0<em>Words<\/em> and how you speak them are\u00a0<em>extremely\u00a0<\/em>powerful! Never admit to\u00a0or say that you\u00a0<em>have\u00a0<\/em>cancer! You don&#8217;t\u00a0<em>have\u00a0<\/em>cancer, you&#8217;re\u00a0<em>diagnosed\u00a0<\/em>with cancer. Little changes and recognition of this in your everyday speech will help you in your recovery. Cancer patients can no longer use the term &#8220;<em>someday<\/em>.&#8221; Come to think about it,\u00a0<em>no one<\/em> should use this term because &#8220;<em>someday&#8221;<\/em> really means\u00a0<em>never<\/em>! And one more observation. I&#8217;m only a cancer patient twice a month when I go for treatment. At all other times I&#8217;m just an average bike riding, basketball playing, blogging 66 year old! And I thank God for enabling me!
