story time…

so here i am doing a favor for a friend. okay, no big deal, it just entails me going out to queens to relieve a friend of another friend for a day or two babysitting a couple of yorkies(brother & sister) so since i ride my bike everywhere, why would this trip be any different? wow! if i only knew beforehand! my trip was simple… take path train to the world trade center… and ride from there and go across the 59th street bridge to my destination in queensbridge! the 59 st bridge… the city should really rethink the fact that that outside trek is more dangerous certain times of the day! now recognize the fact that the path is divided in half… one half for two way traffic walking and, where the real problem lies, is the two way traffic for bikes on the  other side! this is crazy and quite dangerous and i found out the hard way why! people in this city are always in a rush! and to make things worse, being that space is extremely limited on the bridge,(especially for two way bikes!) common sense would make you do it in a single file for bikes in both directions… absolutely no passing!  but there’s always an idiot in a bunch! as soon as i reached the apex, the idiot riding towards me decided to pass the bike in front of him. low and behold… said idiot clips my handlebars and with my front wheel sideways, i flip over(almost like in slow motion as i watched my bike going between my outstretched legs)and landed mainly on my left knee as i started to roll! all traffic stopped to see if i was d.o.a! the idiot stayed and was apologizing profusely and trying to put the blame on anything or anyone sans himself! he asked me if i was alright while blood is dripping down my left knee from a nasty scrape to the “white meat” so to speak! i asked him to please leave so i would not retaliate!(i wanted to throw his bike in the east river!)not only that but as i continued my ride, i liked down and my front rim now had a wobble! damn, what next? so let me tell you what next! i get to my friend’s apartment and only the 2 dogs were there and they couldn’t open the door! i licked my wounds and went home! but i did stop in the city to get my rim straightened out though! i only had my new bike since may 13th! this goes to show that sometimes life life’s! all in all, life is not always hunky-dory, creamy-peachy! take the bad with the good and enjoy yourself! i am taking a couple of days off from riding for obvious reasons!

peace and blessings!
